Our client is a renowned asset manager who is actively seeking  an Associate Portfolio Manager you will work closely with the Portfolio Management team to provide day to day support in managing investment portfolios and implementing trade instructions. Responsibilities will include portfolio analysis and daily cash management, ensuring that client portfolios are in line with agreed risk profiles and investment mandates.

RESPONSIBILITIES

Portfolio Support, Analysis and Reporting: Conduct thorough analysis of investment portfolios, including performance attribution, risk analysis, and benchmarking.
Examples include:

  • Preparing regular portfolio reports for Portfolio Managers to review, providing insights on investment performance, asset allocation and commonality.
  • Analysing portfolio performance against market indices, identifying areas of outperformance or underperformance and preparing comprehensive reports for review by Portfolio Managers and Advisers.
  • Assist in assessing and monitoring investment risks, including market risk, credit risk, and operational risk, identifying concentrated positions and proposing risk mitigation measures.
  • Support the implementation of investment strategies, ensuring alignment with portfolio objectives and investment policy statement, providing timely updates to the team.
  • Collation of corporate action notifications for Portfolio Manager review.
  • Inputting of Portfolio Manager guided trades and foreign exchange orders through the internal trading system.
  • Daily production and management of client portfolio cash balance and overdraft reporting.
  • Raising cash to cover loan interest, investment management fees, external custodian fees, ad hoc and regular withdrawals at the request of the Portfolio Manager or via Workflow.

Investment Research and Analysis: Assist in conducting research on various asset classes, industries, and specific securities.
Examples include:

  • Build an understanding of our client’s investment strategy, analysing macroeconomic factors, market trends, and company fundamentals.
  • Stay informed by reading our clients Macro & Market Outlooks and attending IDBs.
  • Using Bloomberg to ensure that pricing reports, bond lists, team templates and strategy models are kept up to date.
  • Support the team in monitoring news and events that may impact investment decisions and portfolios.
  • Continuously enhance your knowledge of investment strategies, financial markets, and industry trends through professional development opportunities.
  • Actively participating in team meetings, sharing research findings and taking on special projects to deepen understanding.

Client Communication: Collaborate with the Portfolio Manager in client interactions, addressing queries, and providing updates on portfolio performance and investment strategies.

Examples include:

  • Assist in preparing client presentations, reports and investment proposals.
  • Develop an understanding of US/UK clients, tax implications of realising gains and compliant investing.
  • Ensuring static data in APX system is correct and fixing incorrect data where appropriate.
  • Opening and closing of client portfolio accounts.

QUALIFICATIONS

Willing to work towards Investment Management Certificate and CFA Level I
