Systematic Hedge Fund. 6 months, strong likelihood of extension. New York (on-site 4 days).

A tier-1 systematic hedge fund in New York needs a Senior KDB+/q Engineer to support and extend their tick data platform across US equities and futures, owning ingestion, storage optimisation and the query layer the research team relies on daily. You will work directly with the Head of Quant Infrastructure, keeping live research and trading workflows running while improving performance and data access.

This role is specifically for KDB+/q engineers who have built and operated production tick infrastructure inside financial services a hedge fund, prop desk or quant asset manager, directly supporting live quant or systematic trading. KDB+/q experience gained outside a live trading environment is unlikely to be the right fit. The client operates at scale and needs someone who can be productive without a long onboarding.

What they need:

→ 5+ years production KDB+/q at a hedge fund, prop desk, asset manager in the US

→ Deep q language proficiency, tick plant architecture, IPC, complex analytics, memory management

→ Experience supporting live quant or systematic trading workflows - research, signal generation, or execution

→ Hands-on with US equity and futures market data structures (trades, quotes, order book)

→ Python–KDB integration (PyKX or qPython) beneficial

→ Kx 4.x environment experience beneficial
